Uncommon Junior Chef Program

Watch one of our Uncommon Junior Chefs, Akira de La Garza, on the Day Time Morning Talk Show in San Antonio showcase her culinary skills by teaching us an easy, quick lunchtime meal at home during the summer months.  July 2024

Uncommon Junior Chef Program

Listen to some of our Uncommon Junior Chefs speak up and recount their experiences!  They are telling us what they are cooking, learning, and enjoying as part of their favorite moments.  They are our future, next generation leaders.

Uncommon Junior Chef Program

Check out Nathaniel Archer, one of our brilliant Uncommon Junior Chefs, and I spend time with the Shelly Miles, host of the San Antonio Living Talk Show on April 18, 2024.  Nathaniel and I discussed the Uncommon Junior Chef Program, the Uncommon Chef Competition for Sustainability, and an Italian-inspired fettuccine pasta dish with fresh spinanch-basil green sauce, season ricotta cheese, and blanched veggies!  So yummy!

Uncommon Junior Chef Program

Watch Akira De La Garza, one of our Uncommon Junior Chefs, make her fresh, tasty chorizo egg roll bowl, which combines the delicious flavors of Mexico and China! She is entering this recipe in the Jimenez Chorizo Cooking Challenge! Yummy!

Uncommon Junior Chef Program

Listen to and watch our junior chefs and parents talk about their experience together as a family as they learn about fresh, bold, and vibrant global cuisine in a fun, exciting, and engaging way.  The program is transforming education holistically to inspire the next generation, and family members are a key part of the experience.

Uncommon Market Junior Chefs

Uncommon Junior Chefs * Mexico City Menu

Our  flight this afternoon to Mexico City with some Uncommon Junior Chefs  was so much fun. Plus we had our uncommon superstar friend Chef Maria  Flores of Hess Street Foods join us from San Antonio, who connected so well with the students. The  aromas in the kitchen were out of this world—onions, 3 kinds of peppers,  Mexican oregano, tomatillos, avocados, limes, cilantro, garlic,  radishes, fresh tortilla crisps, green onions, and so much more! Uncommon Market & SMACS ACE Learning about Japan and its history

What a great time learning about Japan and its history, culture, geography, dress, traditions, language, and, of course, food. Our Uncommon Junior Chefs demonstrated to their families yesterday their Japanese cooking techniques as part of our “Uncommon Family Engagement Cooking Lesson Series” at the Texas Education Agency St. Mary's Academy Charter School ACE Program. 65 people were excited for the voyage and loved the Japanese pork tenderloin ramen bowls with in-house made broth and an assortment of toppings. Big thanks to Mr Simonson, Ms Brown, Mr Boatman, and all the parents who joined us!

Thanks Ms Pulido for a few of the pics.
